What is StageCoach and how is it different from other programs?

I instill stage confidence and healthy mental preparation in dancers, and troubleshoot obstacles to success with practical tips – from the perspective of an Irish Dancing adjudicator. I know what judges look for, why dancers may be overlooked, and how to change one’s approach to performing on stage.

What does a typical StageCoach session involve?

It varies according to the dancer’s needs. As a theatre choreographer and director, I provide drama techniques that overcome stage fright, tackle negativity, and create a positive dynamic to increase your chances of success. Dancers talk through their concerns and we role play, improvise, and undergo acting exercises designed to build confidence. We select the methods that make you feel powerful on stage.

Is there much dancing in a StageCoach lesson?

I like to see several solo dances to assess how a dancer holds themselves, how they come across, what emotions they portray. Any feedback given is on the understanding that your teacher knows you best and decides your course. My job is to help create a stage persona to empower each individual dancer.

StageCoach workshop was amazing!  Máire connected with the dancers ranging in age from 9-adult and taught them how to "come out of their shell."  Her tips and techniques were easy to remember and so helpful for dancers to create a confident mindset for their competitive performance!  Patricia Rose, TCRG

Máire Clerkin’s StageCoach is an invaluable experience for all competitive dancers; the program covers every aspect of stage performance from presence to projection, mindset to mechanics, imparting techniques that will guarantee a winning performance from head to toe!  Ronan McCormack, ADCRG
